Tiger Beach, Bahamas Aggressor – June 22-29, 2019

Only 3 Male SPOTS LEFT!

Join Steve Philbrook on this awesome shark adventure!  Visit the remote areas around the West End of Grand Bahama aboard the Bahamas Aggressor.  This liveaboard offers up to 5 dives per day.

The West End area is rarely visited by guests and is home to many creatures – both large (sharks and dolphins) and small (grouper, snapper, assorted other reef fish).   At least one afternoon during the trip will be dedicated to a dive at the area know as “Tiger Beach” where we will try to attract sharks using a “scent triangle” filled with bait.   Both Caribbean Reef sharks, Lemon Sharks and Tiger sharks are known to frequent the area.

Please note:  All shark interactions are natural, passive and observational in style.  The Aggressor Fleet does not actively feed sharks nor chum the waters.

Diving Details:

  • Tiger Sharks, Lemon Sharks, dolphin, grouper, snapper  and  other abundant marine life
  • All dives from mothershiptiger beach
  • Water temperature: 78-84F, 25-28C
  • 3-5 mm wetsuit recommended

St Lucia – September 28-October 5, 2019

st luciaJoin Drew Gerling and the Tootsie Pop Divers to St Lucia!

Location, location, location! This is the fundamental attraction ANSE CHASTANET resort has for traveling divers. It is in the heart of St.Lucia’s very best diving: the entire region surrounding ANSE CHASTANET is vested into an award winning marine reserve (SMMA) which has been established since 1995 to protect the pristine beauty of St.Lucia’s coral reefs.

The Diving

The Anse Chastanet reef starts just 10 yards beyond the water’s edge. The reef’s remarkable ecosystem offers an amazing profusion of unusual tropical marine life, in 20 to 140 feet of calm, clear water. Anse Chastanet Reef which is home to more than 150 different species of fish makes for an amazing dive day or night. In the shallow areas be sure to keep your eyes open for peacock flounders, octopus, needle fish and turtles. Or drop down a little deeper over dense coral growth to see puffers, moray eels, parrot fish, lobsters and even sea horses. A unique dive site for all abilities and especially good for macro photography

st luciaThe shore dive is a required “first” dive for dive guests. It allows divers to feel ensured that all equipment is functioning properly, that their buoyancy skills are adequate for entering the marine reserve and to provide an orientation to the type of diving for which St Lucia is known. This reef is a favorite of most professional underwater photographers and videographers who visit Anse Chastanet.

The boat dives should also not be missed – dramatic walls beneath the majestic Piton Mountains, Superman’s flight, a drift dive in the shadow of the Petit Piton, Coral Gardens and Jalousie under the Gros Piton, Piton Wall, the wreck of the “Lesleen M”, Anse La Raye and Anse Cochon. Closer to home for the afternoon boat trips but no less spectacular sites, the diver can explore Fairyland, Turtle Reef, Grand Caille, Trou Diable, the Pinnacles and much more…

Night dives are offered at least twice weekly on Anse Chastanet’s Reef, which really “wakes up” at night, with many interesting crustaceans on the move, large basket stars, sleeping parrot fish, octopus and squid, bioluminescence and the “THING”.

Dining

Some of the best dining in Soufriere and St. Lucia can be found at Anse Chastanet. An enticing selection of menus is available in a number of intimate hillside and beachside locations and also, you can pre-book private dining arrangements at the water’s edge on Anse Chastanet beach or in our spa cottage Kai Mer overlooking the Caribbean. Whether you fancy fine tropical Caribbean Cuisine, exotic Creole flavors, or simple grilled fare, you will find it available and more. Our culinary options also include our St.Lucia-Indian menu titled Apsara, a wholly vegetarian restaurant called Emerald’s and last but not least our Jungle Grill for day time laid back dining on our second beach Anse Mamin. And of course, all of our kitchen receive organic produce from our resort farm Emerald’s in the Soufriere hills.

Rooms

Anse Chastanet’s Superior rooms are located at various levels on the hillside and they are octagonal or rectangular in shape.

The superior rooms have either coralina tiles, clay tiles or tropical hardwood floors, glass or wooden louvered windows, balconies and beautiful views of the Pitons and/or the Caribbean Sea. Average size: 400 sq ft

All rooms have kingsize beds, ensuite bathrooms with sink, shower and toilet. Upon request, extra bed or twin beds can be provided.

In room amenities include fridge, tea/coffee/espresso makers, in-room electronic safes, hand made bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, Molton Brown amenities, free WiFi, twice daily housekeeping service with complimentary bottled water

Palau – March 15-27, 2020

Sold Out!

Steve & Jolene Philbrook are heading back

palau

to Palau!  Join them on this journey to one of the world’s most amazing dive destinations!

We will be staying at the beautiful Palau Royale Resort. Home to its beautiful private beach, pool, restaurants, snorkeling area, marina, and much more!

All Superior rooms are located on the 2nd-4th floors, north wing of the hotel facing the harbor, where you can enjoy a quiet scenic view of the sailing yachts and cruisers. Enjoy the beautiful treescapes and flower beds around the pond viewed from the room’s balcony.

The Diving

palau

Palau is considered one of the world’s premier dive

destinations, with dozens of dive sites in a rare variety: walls with fascinating coral formations, reef corners where the currents attract sharks, rays and schooling fish, channels and other sandy bottom sites, tunnels, holes, caves and caverns, and plenty of WWII freighter and plane wrecks! From macro to mantas, Palau has it all!

Depending on your daily schedule, most boats return to Sam’s Tours around 3-4 p.m. You can hop right back into the water, with our offer of unlimited free dives at Sam’s Macro Wall right off our dock, where mandarin fish are often spotted mating at twilight.

One of the best loved sightings among divers is the Bumphead Parrot Fish (Bolbometopon muricatum). Often seen patrolling the reefs in schools of up to 20 or more, these encounters are favorites for many divers, but imagine an aggregation of nearly a thousand individuals!

The New Moon Expedition takes us to a remote dive site, where aggregations begin forming early in the morning. Awaiting the exact time for spawning, hundreds of Bumphead Parrot Fish from all around the area join one another for what is about to be an unforgettable event.
